Catholic baptism Rosamond BRADLEY
« on: Thursday 30 June 16 18:32 BST (UK) »
I hope someone can help me. I am trying to find a baptism for Rosamond Bradley I know from her marriage to George Watson on 21 Feb 1846 at St Mary's Church Monk Hesleden Durham that she was of full age of Hutton Yorks and daughter of Thomas Bradley. From the 1851 census Rosamund aged 32 born Hutton in Cleveland Yorkshire. Then she was buried on 23rd April 1851 at St Mary's anglican Church Monk Hesleden.
I have found an 1841 census for a Rose Bradley piece 1246 book 5 folio 3 page 1. There is a Thomas Bradley aged 53 living at Hutton Magnum, this could be her father, but I can't be sure.

Then I have found a Catholic baptism for a Rosamond BRADLEY that could be her, but I can see the name Reginald Bradley. Hope someone can help.

Doesn't it say Sponsors are Reginald Bradley and Mary something? Doesn't that mean Godparents or similar (I'm ignorant of Catholic practices I am afraid)
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I think it says 'Sponsors' too, which is the same as Godparents.

Reginald Bradley 77 yrs is with Thomas and Rose in 1841.

Thank you very much for your help. I must admit at first I thought the word sponsors was Thos. but now you say they are god parents that makes sense. The nearest I can get on the surname for Mary is Sherkley.
thanks everyone

There are Kirkleys in Hutton - including Mary Kirkley.

William Kirkley married Mary Harwood in 1824, Hutton Magna.

I searched for *ley and that name came up in 1841. Looking at the writing, I think it could certainly be a 'K' - there seems to be a 'Kipling' name further up the page.
