1927 Barnsley Marriage
« on: Thursday 30 June 16 17:40 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am looking for some kind person to find a marriage between John Thomas Clarke and Nora Morris. I know it took place in the March quarter and it was in Barnsley - not just Barnsley district. I do not know which church.

I am tracing a tree for a friend and I need the information regarding Noras father and his occupation if I am to trace her back any further.

Many thanks

Rosalind

To see the information you require means you have to look at the Parish Register - but then you need to know which church?!

It isn't allowed to look at a Marriage Certificate.
To see what's on there, you have to buy a copy at £9.25 from GRO.

If you have access to the 1939 Register on Find My Past you will be able to obtain the couples birth dates - although your friend will probably know this anyway.

As they married in 1927 - probably aged about 20+ you should be able to find them on the 1911 census with any luck -- where you will be able to work out an approximate year of their parents marriages.

However - as has been said - it WOULD be safer to obtain their marriage certificate to get their father's names with certainty.

The page range for Barnsley RD March 1927 is 271-411.

The entry you are interested in is 362 which may be outside of the Anglican parish register range which are always the first numbers in the sequence and very often in some sort of alphabetical order by parish.

After Anglican marriages, the next set are Jewish & Quaker, followed by other denominations where a registrar was present ie Catholic Baptist Methodist etc and then register office weddings.
