Hi,

There is this index which is not on line or available at the Qld State Archives.  The index was put together by volunteers from the Queensland Family History Society from records held at the Commonwealth Archives in Brisbane.

I can check next time I'm visiting the society but in the meantime maybe a chatter might be able to check the CD if they were visiting the NLA.

I think he was a labourer/miner but will refer to my records.
Again one of the birth or death records must have mentioned Ipswich.
I will check.
His death registration might mention how long in Australia , assuming the informant knew.

Interesting you say that he was a miner. I recalled that I had been to to Hartley so did a quick search: "However, in the 1860s, kerosene shale was discovered locally which enabled the production, within Australia, of paraffin oil and kerosene. This was quite a boon as most families, in those pre-electricity days, were reliant upon lighting from the cooking fire or, at best, candles. The discovery brought miners and their families and there were soon over 2000 people living in the area with shops, schools, farms and orchards in the area.

I would appreciate it if someone who has access to that CD can check to see if my Thomas and
Lucy travelled to Queensland from UK.
Their first three children were born Queensland. They may have lived Ipswich at some time.

Hi.

I checked this index and could not find an entry for Thomas and Lucy Knight.
