Care to share tips on how to publish and manage a tree on a Website/Blog?

I want to create a public website that can be viewed by anyone interested or related to the family. I already have years of experience creating websites (already owning two) so I don't need any recommendations for what to use. But I am just wondering if anyone who has a family history website/blog could share HOW they share and cross-platform their data through other websites too (ancestry, Wikitree etc.).

I don't host my family tree on my own website, but those I know who do, have abandoned other sites such as Ancestry and just host their own version which they have complete control over.

It depends what you want to gain from making your tree public. Keeping a tree on Ancestry has its pluses and minuses.

The best way to keep the same information in more than one place is to keep it in GEDCOM form on your computer, and upload it to each website periodically when more information is added.

I adopt that method now, of uploading an updated Gedcom everytime significant data is added. I'd like to make Ancestry my primary online tree builder but it is only public to paying members. So technically, I wouldn't represent that as "public" by definition. I'd rather make it visible to anyone and everyone (however, I'd of course privatise living figures).
