Unusual  to see a chimney  so prominent on  a church.

It looks like a 19th or 20th century addition (with boiler room!) built at right angles to a much smaller and older church. I don't think the planners would allow it these days...

There are quite a few churches in Wales with the tower separate from the main part of the church; not sure if this is something specific to Wales though.  In many cases the towers are considerably older than the churches, the latter having been rebuilt in later years,  whilst the towers are dated to the 12th and 13th centuries.  The tower on this picture looks to be early, but I suspect the spire was added a lot later.  There is speculation that these towers had a dual function in that they were attached to religious sites, but were also used as watch-towers.

It is rather an odd design.  Does make me think that perhaps the church  may have been destroyed and rebuilt at some stage and only the tower remained of the original church.

I agree, the whole building looks Victorian Early English style, with the tower possibly original. It could be a over-heavy restoration, but the regularity of the windows and roof don't look medieval,

I would agree with the tower being much older than the church itself. Unusual set-up with tower that offset but joined to church. Not helping find it though

It looks more like a needle spire.
