In the 1911 census 467 to 475 were shops, 471 had a Herbert Hesketh, wife and two children, who was a  Cycle Repairer, living above the shop. So the original houses were demolished after 1901 and before 1911, and shops built on the site.

Herbert Hesketh, cycle dealer, 471 New Chester Road, Rock Ferry.
