Hi Maggsie,
Coincidentally both brothers married Dorotheas, and both are buried side by side in the Berry church at Eglish, the first having died in 1825 followed a year later by Dorothea (nee Winslow). See attached: https://sites.google.com/site/irishberrygenealogy/eglish-castle
I will pass your information on to Paddy Berry, the writer and host of the above family history site. He is a descendant of your Winslow Dorothea. I am a descendant of M. P. Berry and his second wife, Martha Turpin, but nobody seems to know the maiden name of the his first wife, Dorothea.

I have followed the advice of searching for marriage contracts, but so far no success. Thanks for all of your help.

We will be in Ireland next week, Borrisokane where I was from, we will go up to Eglish as it's on the N52 and see if I can find the grave.

John Berry married Dorothea Glin in 1844 in Rathmines, Dublin.

Seems to have been a popular name. If you are going to Eglish the house is owned by a farmer and is in a state of ruin. The church is in slightly better shape. In 2011 the church and burial ground were apparently up for sale. As you enter the burial enclosure in the middle of the north wall, Dorothea's grave is in the left hand corner and Dorothy Winslow and children in the right hand corner. I am trying to obtain information on the former who died in 1825. Perhaps you can get a photo of the inscription.

Hi,
Here is your update on our visit.
Ok, well, as you say it's a bit over grown the Church and all the other area.
The gates were a bit stiff but we got through.
In the walled area, saplings were coming out of the walls the Ivy was strangling the headstones.
You said that Dorothea's grave is on the left....... was it an upright headstone or a tomb type grave?
It was raining and we were prepared but, very over grown.
The left headstone has fallen, there are 2 on top of each other, that's why I asked which type it is.
The other headstones are covered in moss.
The only one I could read was a ?? Berry Mitchell from 1927.
The next time I am in the area I will take a wire brush and other tools and have a go at cleaning them.
Before we went to Ireland, I did see an entry for a Marriage Licence for a Thomas Sterling Berry to a Dorothea Homan this was in 1798, I think it was in the Ancestry records.
