John Murray 15/12/1888

Is anyone able to assist with more info of guidance to get more.

John Murray  b. 15th December 1888, Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey.  His parents listed  on IGI  births as Kate McIver & Domald Murray.  I do have his Passport number as 157037 from 1935.
Strange story that I would really like to piece together.. Johns parents (only mother listed )travelled from Scotland to USA in 1887 with 2 siblings, returning back to Scotland before 1894 when my grandfather was born.
I believe John actually moved to USA as an adult, married and had a daughter but I have not been able to find any info or data.

He was going to 68 Monticello Ave., Jersey City, New Jersey in 1923 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:23XK-BK6  He was married at this point, so maybe he married in Scotland?

May not be him, but there is a married John M. Murray born New Jersey at the right time and in a hospital for the insane in Brooklyn in 1940 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KQ9B-GY5

Is there any address where the family members were known to live in Scotland?  I'm guessing he was going back to see them, so maybe incoming lists would give more clues.

1901 census the family were living 41, Holmscroft Street Greenock ...In U K Incoming records 1935 occupation boilermaker address given was 64,Regent Street Greenock

There is a record for a Donald Murray  birth year about 1863 Scottish arrival date 15/6/1887 New York
Ship State of Nebraska occupation looks like shipwright ( same occupation in the 1901 census )
The record for Catherine and her 2 sons arrival 19/9/1887 New York ship Ethiopia so looks like she was going to join her husband

I also have info for a life claim dated 1954  with 30 July 1976 listed with John Morrison Murray ~  exact birth date 15th Dec 1888

Thanks for the 1940 info about US census.. interesting and defiantly could be him ?

Family address on the 1911 Scottish census has John still living at home 21 Bruce st Greenock..

There are quite a few gaps that i would like to fill in.. eventually... If i could get info on the passport or Life claim these could carry more information.. perhaps even a wife's name !!!
