James Turbitt shoemaker from Cormore townland or Ballygawley
« on: Monday 06 June 16 06:14 BST (UK) »
My great great grandfather James Turbitt was a shoemaker working in the mid 1800s. He may have been based in Augher but came from Cormore or possibly Ballygawley. Other members of the family were tailors. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

"Any information" is a bit vague and there's no point in us searching for, finding and then posting details which you may already have found or are not of interest to you. The more specific your request is the easier it is for us to help you.

You've also not given much information here to identify James Turbitt "working in mid 1800s" but you've at least 2 other threads on the family with more details-

and

My ancestor James Turbitt married Catherine Graham in St Macartan's Cathedral, Clogher in 1858 and came to New Zealand in 1864. His older brother Michael Turbett (the name was spelled differently on various documents and on emigration) was also married in St McCartan's to Mary Donnelly of Augher (father John) in 1853 and went to the US (Providence, Rhode Island I think) some time after. Their father James Turbitt was a shoemaker.
I would be most grateful for any information about these families, especially their connections in Ireland.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for your reply.
I know the description shoemaker/Cormore or Ballygawley is rather vague but I have run out of leads and was hoping that this approach might ring a bell somewhere.
