 :P :P :P ;)

The Petone Settlers Museum database is in error.

Comparing the passenger list of the Montmorency published in the Wellington Independent on 17 April 1858, Page 3 (see Minniehaha's link to it above) I see from a random sample that passengers MALLOCK, BISHOP, MOONEY/MOORNEY, KITSON and RUSTON all appear in the Petone Settlers Museum database under a spurious 1858 voyage of the Montrose.

I will approach the Petone Settlers Museum to ask for a correction.

Can anyone find any records of the Montrose or any of its voyages to New Zealand other than that in 1882?

I have compared the passenger list of the Montmorency with the Petone Settlers Museum listing for the Montrose, and found 61 passengers on the Montmorency incorrectly assigned to the Montrose, with another 11 Montmorency passengers omitted entirely from the Petone Settlers Museum database.

I will contact the Petone Settlers Museum and request that they correct their database and add the missing names.
