militair booklet from 1864 - German Translation help required
« on: Sunday 29 May 16 02:00 BST (UK) »
I have found in our family papers an militair booklet from 1864. Can someone tell me what it says? It has records of his militair career. I have more pages that are not attached.
Thank you!

You should get a better response if you include the fact you are after a German translation in your subject.

Also by scanning a page at a time you can increase the resolution. This will make it easier to read.

Hello,

In these two pages Carl Steif was granted two years of leave to go to America and was also free of military drills until the end of November 1874, but in case of mobilization he had to return to the army immediately. When returning to Europe or when moving to a non-European seaside country by the Black Sea or Mediterranean Sea his leave will expire and he should immediately return to his unit.

My suggestion for a transcript:

Der Wehrmann Carl Steif
erhält hiermit durch Verfü-
gung des Kgl: Commands
der 20. Infanterie
Brigade einen zwei-
jährigen Urlaub nach Ame-
rica, und zwar bis ultimo
November 1800 Vier und Sie-
benzig mit Dispensation von
den Uebungen, jedoch un-
ter beding der sofortigen
Rückkehr im Falle einer Mo-
bilmachung.
Bei der Rückkehr nach
Europa, oder bei Uebersiede-
lung in nicht Europäische kust-
enländer des Schwarzen
und Mittelländischen Meeres
erlöscht dieser Urlaub und
sol sich der g: Steif sofort wieder
verzumelden.
Schrimm den 6. November 1872
Kgl: Bezirks Command des
2. Bataillons (Schrimm)
2. Posenschen Landwehr Regements N:o 19.
Eleeling[?]
Oberst z. Rund[?] Bezirks Commandeur.

Matt
