His service record is available on Ancestry and should be ref. ADM 29/82/401 in the National Archives Catalogue, but I must admit to not being able to find it via this route.
Re George, I would certainly consider purchasing Frederick's GHS application, because in a lot of instances this was accompanied by a statement of the fathers service. Out of interest I did check the CG records in the ADM 175 series and found George had been posted to Kessingland on 14 July 1825 from Burgh Head, which I believe is in Scotland, this is in ADM 175/5 pdf 294. From here he was promoted to Commissioned Boatman and moved to Birling Gap in 1831.
I did try and follow his career further but the NA website is having problems. However, this series of records are available as free downloads, but be warned the files are large! The next file to be consulted is ADM 175/6.
