George Henry Looper born cape town
« on: Monday 23 May 16 20:04 BST (UK) »
Hi  would any one  be able to help me, i  am tracing my family tree.
my grandmother told me a story when i was young that her father (my great grandfather)went on a boat she waved him goodbye never to see him again.,hope  i have the right family.
On the UK census in 1901 he is listed as Henry Looper b 1857-1860  Cape Town(he was a General Labourer.) but on his marriage records he is down as George Henry Looper m 1895 to a Sarah Ann Barnett.
His Father is down as George Henry Looper on marriage record.
I have found  a Death record for a George Henry Looper 25Th April 1905 Stepney
If anyone could look up this person for me in the cape town records or any information about him who was his parents ? etc i would be very grateful
 thank you.sue

I can find no trace of a George, Henry or George Henry Looper in South Africa unfortunately.  As birth records are not available the only way to find him would be if he was baptised. Although many baptismal records are available on line, most of the Cape Town ones are scanned under the various churches, then the church in each suburb of which there are very many. The only way to find it would then be to take the records of each church in each suburb and go through each baptism over the applicable years.  Would the marriage certificate possibly provide clues by looking at the witnesses?
