The first reference to the Barkby marriage from you gave 2 September 1781 and this one 25 September 1781. This is the confusion. Is one a typo or is the earlier date a reading of the bans three weeks prior to the marriage?

The Coleorton one seems much farther away geographically and in date from the first born.

2 Sept 1781

Great having access to the Phillimore. I have used them before in Cornwall but he didn't cover the parish where most of my family lived. I guess the 2 could be a transcription error on his part. Have to check to see where the other date from Bunnygirl came from and determine which is most reliable. In the meantime I'll list it as September.

The second John (b. 25 January 1760) certainly appears to be the right one. Poor Catherine. She seems to have been kept busy.
I was wondering where you found the Barkby marriage date for John and Elizabeth (25 September 1781) as this conflicts with the date transcribed by Phillamore (2 September 1781). Which do you think is likely to be the most reliable?

This will take quite some time to absorb! I really appreciate all of the time and effort which you and the others have put in on my Baxter family. I could never have located all of this information (I have tried).

Hugh Baxter was a busy man, marrying two different women on the same day! Sometimes I wonder about Phillimore's accuracy.
