Emily's parents were Abraham BOWDEN and Ann CAUSLEY. Emily's sister Mary married William HAMMACOTT in 1870, so would be parents of the Elizabeth aged 1 in 1871 whose surname I could not read.

Yes, you are correct. It seems as though Ann being "base born" arrived before William Hammacott married Anne Causley c.17th Feb 1818, Chudleigh...and I am assuming he was the father...and there may well be no proof. Yet another supposition  ::). I also think but cannot prove that Abraham Bowden was a son of Abraham Bewden and Frances Briant/Bryant...Such is FT guess work  - akin to divining...
