At the risk of repeating myself the following updates should be hidden as they 'influence' the downloading of Windows 10.  Obviously change from automatic download of MS updates.  The main one to hide is KB3035583, this has been issued in various sizes about 4 times.  Also KB 2952664, 3021917, 3022345, 3068708, 3075249 and 3080149.  I also use GWX software which goes a long way to help is barring these updates.  So far I have managed to avoid Windows 10!

Windows 10 is trying to take me over too >:(  If I simply disable automatic updates will it actually stop the thing installing or will it just install without me knowing.

We tried W 10 on my husbands pc and hated it  :'(
Disable automatic updates, and when you manually check, make sure you click in the optional or recommended tab and untick 'Upgrade to Windows 10'.

Hallelujah,
Sorted..........................found on Microsoft website how to revert to Windows 8.1.

Go to "Settings"
then
"Recovery"
then
"Go back to Windows 8.1"

I will stay with 8.1 for the time being.

Sorry to hijack this thread but just wondering if, after July, those of us who have not upgraded to Windows 10 can breathe a sigh of relief and stop examining our updates quite so closely.

Post 29 July - Microsoft have announced that they will cease 'pestering' people to download Windows 10 as it will cost £99 from then on.  However, it will not happen overnight as the effect is worldwide, so probably take quite a few weeks.

No you can only revert back to an older version within a month of upgrading, not that it only lasts for a month.

I've disabled auto updates, could not see Upgrade to W 10 but haven't had another 'happy message' since.  The last one gave me a date 'to do' option...24th May at 1.00  so we'll see what happens then :-\
