Carole's fingers are quicker. I could not see any record for Thomas apart from his medal index card, for the British War Medal only, as he probably was in India for most of his war.
John H. attested on 4 Oct 1916 at the Technical School, Byrom Street but was not called up until 15 Feb 1917. He was first with 212TF Depot, 26th KLR, then to Base Depot, BEF in France on 28 Dec 1917. Next day he was sent to 4th Bn, KLR but transferred to 9th Bn, North Staffs (Pioneers). He died of wounds at 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station on 10 Mar 1918. The papers include a brief description and a sad list of his personal effects, sent to his father, as would be his two medals later on.
