Marriages Look Up's Pre.1839> St Hilary Liscard

I have recently discovered A book of Marriage  mostly the 1800 in Wallasey. The book appears to be very new so maybe thats why i haven't seen it before.It gives the name of the person Married and the church the ceremony took place. and the year. In the case of a female marriage the name given might be her maiden name. I am not familiar with the book as yet, but i don't think it's anything to do with registration records.It might be of help to whittle down a marriage year though. If anyone knows someone who married in Wallasey in the 1800 but doesn't know when or where. Send me the information to practice on and i will see if i can help.

Correction 22nd Sep 2005.The books i use are the G.R.O references to B.M.D.In Wallasey.So only start from the registration year,not 1800 but i maybe able to find earlier marriages

Hi Celia, here is one for you Elizabeth Davies and Richard Smith (sorry for it being Davies and Smith!) they were married in Wallasey I think and it was most likely around the early 1870's. If its any help he was christened in St Hilary's in 1841 and when Richard died, Elizabeth was married for a second time in 1890 at a Wirral civil ceremony.

Its says in the Wallasey Church of England Marriages
1837-1900. That is true,but most are 1800's with the odd 1900

These records should help you to pin down the correct Marriage year and help with your Genealogy.

Note. It says on the first page.All unlawful marriage are held by the registrar. Anyone  know if these are kept separate and why would it be unlawful.Surely no one would marry them if it was unlawful.

Thanks Celia looks like they were married after their first child was born.I have the first one born in 1874 and the second the year they were married in 1876 . My great Nan their third child also had my Nan before she married . The whole family thought that the man my great Nan married was the father of all the children she had. I put the cat among the pigeons by finding out that Nan had been christened Winifred Ellen PARKER Smith (the Smith being her mums maiden name).
Just before Nan was born her mum had been living with a family of Parker's On her christening records her father was a Robert Parker . Its so amazing what things you can find from christening records
