Hi Celia - I'm looking for the marriage of George Upton & Mary Dodd of Seacombe. I don't know which Wallasey church they would have used (if any). It's about 1845 - which should be in GRO records, but I can't find them. (There is a marriage of a George Upton & Mary Dodd in Liverpool but it's not them -wrong parents). Any info gratefully received!

Thanks

Hi Paulychops
I only normally look up St Hilary which is C.O.E so i will look there first.I don't have access to all the church records because a lot of Church's have long gone so will be in the Cheshire Chester Archives.I will see if i can find the marriage anywhere  On line, because i cant really do a blind search. The library is closed tomorrow so it will be Thursday or Friday before i go to do the look up for you.

I have had a search in the most reliable of Wirral Marriage
(plus other sites)

http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb
There are plenty of Mary Dodds & George Upton's but not married to each other.I think i did see a marriage in Manchester Cathedral, but my computer went funny and the page dissapeared ::) I think it was on U.K B.M.D. Lanashire

Thanks for looking Celia. The marriage should be in the official records as I'm sure it's post 1837, but I can't find it: never mind!

Hi Celia, would you be kind enough to look up a marriage for me.  I am looking for Thomas Dodson (maybe Dodgson) and Martha Stanley, I am assuming it will be St. Hilary as their first 2 children were baptised there in 1829 and 1831, so I would guess the marriage would be mid-late 1820's.  If possible I would also like to find the groom's father's name/occupation and any witnesses.  Thanks in advance.

Spooner - Monmouthshire & Wolverhampton.
Warner & Loundes - Dudley/West Bromwich.
Dod(g)son - Heysham/Liverpool/Wolverhampton

Celia - I thought you might be interested to know (or maybe not), that I found the marriage I was looking for. They DID get married in Liverpool. A few of my ancestors living in Seacombe must have found it easier to take the ferry to get married than to traipse up to St Hilary before they built St Paul's in Seacombe. That's my theory anyway!
