As looking up a marriage is now so easy to do on the internet. I will now use this topic for Marriage newspaper articles, and notice. Which i will add too now and then, So if you know a person was married in the wallasey area they might be in the newspaper. An article (not an announcement)gives you so much information on a wedding. If found it is a wonderful bit of history to have in your family tree file. As looking through newspapers on film is very time consuming. I would appreciate you do a marriage look up first. If you are not sure of the year.I can still look up earlier marriage if known to have taken place in The Wallasey.

Just on the off chance - any record of any Biddle/Biddell/Bithell marriages c1850-1865?

Ideally looking for a John Biddle(Biddell/Bithell) marrying a Mary/Maria/Dinah McDermott but interested in any Biddle/Biddell/Bithell marriages around that timeframe in case they are related to my John?

Many thanks :)

Hi Nigel
Have you read the above post? Now ancestry 1837 B.M.D are free I don't think, the topic will really be needed. I can look up marriages in wallasey before that date if not on the I.G.I. So if you want anything before 1837 i will be going to the library during the week. I will change the heading to the topic.
Newspapers dont start tiill 1899

Hi Chris, do you mean a lookup in the older newspapers,if so they only go from the above dates. Marriages for the years you want.are mostly on-line if they have been transcribed. I have been through the U.K. Marriages there are a few Williams registered in Wirral and Birkenhead.Married to annie's/Ann but without a maiden name its a bit  difficult. I also went through some years on ancestry beta marriages. Unfortunately i found someone has burped (more of a belch actually ;D ;D) on the search results page for 1884 -1886.? The whole 3 years of quarteres are down as being  Nov to Dec. Fortunately i found when i clicked on one of the Now-Dec quarters  it was A January quarter 1886. The nearest i can find to 1886 .Are two Williams reg  B/H 1884  one in April two in July.,In October another, two.One registered wirral one in birkenhead.(Same thing)
1886 a William registered January.1887 same.the last nearest year is  October quarter 1888 registered wirral. I didn't find any Annie Fellows either. Not much help am i ;D ;D

Celia

Sorry Celia I misread your original post thinking you had C19th marriages from another source.
I saw you found an 1870s marriage for someone else earlier in the thread.

I too have been searching FreeBMD for this marriage but without success. The problem concerns William and Ann's elder daughter - my grandmother Ada Davies who was born illegitimately. My father only found this out after her death - her age had been falsified, to the extent of her being sent to school a year late to cover this up.

So where is William Davies and Annie Fellowes' marriage? I used a bit of lateral thinking - they crossed the Mersey and got married (in secret, presumably) in 1887 in Liverpool!

Hello Chris
I am sorry you got confused not your fault though the topic has got confused over a time.Caused by me not sticking to what the topic was originally for. That was to look for marriage in the library that the on line B.M.D had not yet transcribed. From 1837 they can only go to a certain date i think. This seems to apply to all church records in the library as well. It was also to find pre1837 B.M.D then i found a gap between 1800 and that date. I have since found more books, and i am now in the process of copying out marriages  and Deaths from the parish registers of Wallasey. i have up to now done Burials 1799 1800 1801.
Marriages 1800,1801/2/3/4 (only two )/5 These are for my own use if anyone wants a lookup for earlier marriages of ancestors. They wont be ready for a while yet as it takes many journeys and lots of typing up. Have you asked on the Cheshire board for help in finding your
marriage. Sometimes others find things that we miss. If i find anything in the meantime i will let you know

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I've found the actual marriage on FreeBMD in Liverpool, (then) Lancashire. No need to involve Cheshire boards.  Chris

No, March quarter 1887 in Liverpool itself. William Davies and Annie Fellowes - no middle names. Wigan seems a bit far off, and if it had been 1886 there'd be no need for subterfuge.  I can't see the marriage you found.  Chris
