Copford Parish Registers - Lappage
« on: Wednesday 20 July 05 16:23 BST (UK) »
If anyone is able, can they please look up the death of a John Lappage in the parish registers of St Michael and All Angels at Copford?  I believe he died in the early 1830s and was born in 1796.
He married a Sarah Howard (or Haward) in Birch in 1817 and was the son of Jane Thorington and William Lappage.
You could end a whole line of research for me if you can answer this.

Took a look at the Copford burial register today but didn't find a burial for John Lappage. Checked from 1820 to 1850, but only found 3 Williams being buried.

Thanks so much for your trouble.
Since writing the original request is has become clear that St Peter's Birch or the church in Stanway (St Albright's, isn't it?) might also be likely candidates.
Amongst the Wms, is there perchance one born 1769 in Stanway?  If there is, you will be solving a long-standing problem for more than one researcher!

As ellusive as Pimpernels, these Lappages!

I know the 1842 one having spent £7 on his death certificate only to find he was a thatcher and the wrong one.  Interesting, though, in that he probably died as the result of an accident.  His death was registered on the same day as a young boy, also a thatcher.

He may also be a Stanway person.  They must have lived in tents betwixt Copford, Birch and Stanway as they seem to have 'up-ed sticks' and moved location from census to census.

If I pray hard, perhaps someone will contact me who has already gone through all the research (grief!) already.
Thanks again - Sue
