What makes you think that he is not the individual you are looking for? The name, nationality, birth date, race and military service are all correct. No other person has been found who meets all of those criteria. Sure, it is remotely possible that another such person exists or existed but was missed on the 1940 census or his race or age was incorrectly recorded. That's a real long shot, though.
