Research at the London Metropolitan Archive
« on: Thursday 05 May 16 11:04 BST (UK) »
Hello Peeps

I need a search done at LMA as I live in south of France. Anyone willing to help?

The search will be through the St Giles in the Fields Parish records between 1750-1820, especially seeking a birth entry in 1789 for a Faustin Jeffery

Thanks

Could he be the same Faustin Jeffery who is possibly married to a Catherine but living in St Luke Middlesex in 1841 occ Shoe maker -not born in county.  In 1851 he is in St Giles, Cripplegate born Huntspill, Somerset

I see he deserted in the 1807 article , maybe he was still 'in hiding' in the early census  ;D

Researchers who visit the LMA are few and far between but I know of 2 who may be able to help.

I'll send a pm and see what happens.

Somerset as birth place seems to be leading Middlesex 3 to 1 so far. There is a younger Faustin jeffery (b abt 1841 /2) who marries in 1864, father henry (deceased) warehouseman. With such an unusual name they could possibly be related. Might be worth looking for henry, he could be your Faustin's brother. On the 1851, young Faustin is with his grandmother Ann Ingersole (widow) and his aunt Sophia. there is a marriage for Mary Ann Jeffery widow to William Searls widower on 12 may 1861. her father is John Ingersole game keeper.
