Interested in publishing your family tree?
« on: Thursday 05 May 16 08:46 BST (UK) »
They say that everyone has a book inside them. I am hoping to publish my family history (when I have finished it). Rather than paying for a small print run in book form I thought that making a Kindle type version would be easier/cheaper.

I was hoping to attend this council run course last November - http://tinyurl.com/jon8v8c - but it was cancelled due to lack of interest. Similar commercial courses charge about £250 + VAT if you can find one.

I cannot make next month's date but I am hoping that enough RCers in the Northants area are interested to ensure this one goes ahead, and hopefully the next one.

I wonder if you might have considered an alternative to the print (or electronic) print variety? I have been authoring our own family's history website with several cousins using one of the proprietary genealogy web authoring software programs. As well as having a full database capable of providing a range of charts and tables, it had the facility to create linked illustrated narrative accounts (we have over 400 on line so far). The beauty of the system is that it is immediately accessible - and, unlike, the book, readily editable and updatable as the years go by.

If of interest, you can see our effort by clicking on the home button under the crest
