Looking for Alfred George Company
« on: Sunday 01 May 16 13:39 BST (UK) »
Hello
I have hit a block on family tree research and hoping someone can help!
I am looking for info on Alfred George Company.
The info I have from other members of the Company family is that he was born 1872 in Beckenham, Surrey.
I can not find a birth to confirm this, nor any details of parents. The only record I can find for him is a 1901 census showing him as a boarder in Croydon as a carpenter.
I know he married Mary Lomax/Smith and had 2 children George & Cyril born 1915 & 1920.
But know nothing else.

Really hoping someone can find him born or who his parents were?

Any help would really be appreciated
Thanks

Hi,

When did Alfred and Mary marry? Do you have their marriage cert?

With reference to the name Lomax/Smith was Mary a widow when she married Alfred?

JJ

Added -  can now see the connection of Lomax/Smith. Mary's mother remarried to a George Smith, therefore Mary took his name.

I did wonder if this George Campany b 1872 Deptford Kent might be a possible in 1881??

I can only see the family in the 1881 census https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QK6B-CQ9Z

With reference to the marriage posted above -

Alfred George Campany married Ellen Erridge in 1906, Eastbourne.

He was born c.1856.

Found him in 1901 a boarder with John Elford and family in Croydon he is 29 single and a carpenter

The census says Beckenham Surrey but I can only find a Beckenham in Kent, anyone else found it.

Edit sorry didn't read the request properly see you already have the above census

The family appear as Campey in other census years and in 1891 George is a solider in York so looks unlikely although his father John was a carpenter
