Blyth Library
« on: Thursday 28 April 16 22:52 BST (UK) »
In todays paper it reported that a  Joyce Wakenshaw has kindly left £30,250 to the Blyth Library , She spent a lot of time in the Library,   and then became Head of a United Nations school in Geneva.
This lovely gesture is being used to have a state of the art family history suite created within the library..    This is great news as the library's equipment is now quite dated, and I hope it wont be long before this happens .. Dolly

As far as I know we are still in the 'cubby hole', Michael, as the majority of the library is now upstairs but we are going to have an up to date microfilm reader with a printer function that actually works!  How novel will that be?  :D

Glad to hear of that - very generous.
The library was one of my favourite places as a child. There was a shortage of books just post war, for some years, but I could usually find something there that I hadn't already read. Happy Memories!

Me too Tricia,  I also spent hours in there too, it's a treasure trove. It's a long time since i was in there as the last time I was in ,
the newspaper reader was literally falling to pieces , if it haden't been my niece was with me I couldent have managed to get anything. There are still things of interest that I know will be there ... hope i live long enough to see this gift accomplished.. Dolly
