I'm looking for a Frances Mary Andrews who gave birth to a daughter Gladys in Fairmile House, (Christchurch Union Workhouse) in 1910. Please can anyone help?

HAve you found her in 1911? (sorry look ups not allowed)

That should give you an age and place of birth for her.

Are you trying to trace her back (parents/grandparents etc) or see what happened to her after 1910?

I cannot find her on 1911 census. We've just found her name on Gladys's birth certificate.I should have thought she would have been in the Christchurch/Bournemouth area, as was described as a kitchen maid in Bournemouth. Presumably would have been fired from that job! No father for Gladys mentioned, of course. There are lots of Frances, Frances M and Frances Mary on all the censuses, but none leaps out as a likely candidate.  She may even have been married too! Hence my request...

Would be worth seeing if the relevant Record Office has any surviving Workhouse records.  We know where baby Gladys went, but maybe you can find where Frances was discharged to, or admitted from, and when.

Galdys is in a house with three other unrelated babies in 1911. I phoned Hampshire Archives to ask what records they have, but was told any rtecords will be in Dorset. No reply from them yet. I livein hope!
Thanks anyway.
