James Coventry/ Glasgow, Lanark. 1851/1861

Hello there.
Just wondered if someone would be kind enough to look uo on the 1851/1861 census for James Coventry b. 1823 (Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland) and his wife Isabella b.1829 Falkirk,Stirling, Scotland.
By the records of some of their childrens births they were living in Glasgow at the time of those census'

Hi, I've checked the names index for both 1851 and 1861, they do not seem to be in Glasgow when census was taken.

Was Isabella's maiden name Rankin?  (Looks like this family travelled around quite a bit)
If so, they may have been in Edinburgh in 1851, since a child was born there in 1854. Another child born Glasgow in 1857, then another born 1862 in Dunfermline, so quite possibly the family are in Dunfermline in 1861.
You could try posting on the  Edinburgh, Midlothian forum  for 1851 census and the Dumfermline, Fife forum for the 1861 census, maybe you will have more luck there.

Yes Isabella's last name was Rankine, does that help anything.

                  I found the above info. on the children based on Isabella Rankin being the mother, I just wondered if I had the right family.

You are right this family did seem to jump around a fair bit since on later census' the daughter Isabella Coventry was shown to be born in Yorkshire, England abt. 1861 although I have been able to find absolutely no evidence of her birth, although I know she existed because she was my Great Grandmother. It makes me wonder if the family took her in from a relative.
