Hi,
Does anyone know if records exist from the Clifden Female Industrial School ? Time period I'm looking at would be around 1887. According to Galway Petty Sessions books a Patrick Malley, possibly my great grandfather, was arrested for not contributing to the support of his daughter, Mary in 1887. We think Mary was born in 1882, her mother Honor Coyne Malley died in 1885. Don't know much about this institution. Some info online is confusing as there seems to be an Industrial School and a Home for unwed girls in same area. Some articles seem to be pointing to horrible happenings at the home but wonder if it is connected to the School.
Mary was not in house with the family in 1901 but was 19 and could have been working elsewhere.
Just discovered this Industrial School bit and wondered about a paper trail.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Ruth
