     William Kent, born Calcutta East Indies, joined army (Royal Irish Fusiliers) 8 Sept.1886 at Aldershot age 14 (5' tall, fresh complexion, blue eyes, red hair, Roman Catholic), appointed drummer 7/2/87, South Africa 1899-1903, parents: John 2nd Bn. Royal Irish Fusiliers & Jane; discharged Dublin 7/9/1907, intended residence- 12 Lower Gardiner St.

WWI Service Record- William Kent, 43, miner?, previously- Royal Irish Fusiliers, joined 12 Oct.1915 Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, height 5' 7", next of kin- Miss Elizabeth Kent & Miss Jane Kent (sisters) 1 Swifts Rd. Ormond Quay Dublin, discharged 7/3/1919
1903- Holywood then Ballykinler then Holywood (all in County Down, now Northern Ireland)
Death certificate: William John Kent, Private R.I. Fusiliers (pensioner), married to Mary Cuddy, died 13 Nov.1952 at 24 Hozier St. Tannochside, broncho-pneumonia, father- John Kent regular soldier (deceased), mother- Jane Kent maiden surname Burt, informant- nephew-in-law John Hopkins of 25 Babylon Rd. Bellshill.

Some sections of Dublin will probably have changed considerably over the years. You can see most places via Google Streetview to see what it looks like now.

Wow, that is some information folks, thanks for your diligence!

And this lead us to Bengal and back to New Ross.  My Mother is also a Byrne derivative, possibly wexford, so I may be related to myself.
