Frances, I do hope you hadn't already sent for the death certificate of the James Brennan died 1933. What Blue found was great.

There's a probate record that could be a match:-

1940

BRENNAN James of the County Mental Hospital Lancaster died 4 March 1940 Administration Liverpool 18 May to Mary Brigid Brennan spinster. Effects £486 7s. 11d.

This corresponds with this burial:-

Yew Tree Cemetery, West Derby, Liverpool

8 March 1940, James Brennan, County Mental Hospital Lancaster, 63 years, Grave 3B 439

Before ordering the death certificate ask for help in determining names of others in this grave here:-

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=651292.405

Corresponding death index:-

Name: James Brennan
Birth Date: abt 1877
Date of Registration: Mar 1940
Age at Death: 63
Registration district: Lancaster
Volume: 8e
Page: 2225

Great find Blue, this definitely is the correct James I will follow the link you gave me. I do know his daughter Elizabeth (Betty) born 1910 died young with TB so possibly buried with James .The family had a lot of misfortune the Mary Bridget mentioned in probate married & also died v young in Ireland leaving 2 young daughters. So poor James having lost his wife in childbirth it is not surprising he ended up in a mental institution.  :)

I'm pleased to hear nothing had been spent out on the wrong information I had sent. Fingers crossed you can make headway with more useful finds. Hopefully your friend enjoyed their time here.

That was a good shout going by a c1887 birth but I think we should have been given a c1877 birth for this James Brennan. Never mind think we've found him now.

Thank you to all the Posters for your help and to Blue for pointing me in the direction of Yew Tree Cemetery.
I have now received details of the grave and James is interred there with his daughter Elizabeth. The Deed holder was Margaret Murphy.
I need to now source some details for Mary Bridget Brennan for her time at Mount Pleasant College should I start a new post?  :)

No idea if records are available and if so if they can be accessed. You could always ask Liverpool Record Office if they have anything in their archives for this educational establishment:-

Frances, I have found below on Find My Past 1939 registers. Unfortunately I don't know how to add an attachment to this message.

7 Southport Road Margaret Murphy date of birth given as 17 Feb 1894, states she is married, unpaid domestic duties.
There are then three banked out, may be here children born after 1915.
Mary B Brennan (with her future married name as Stanton) date of birth given, could be 27 or 29 January 1915, states she is single, her occupation is School Teacher.

Regards
JeanC

Yes this info is correct re Mary B Brennan (she married Stanton)in ireland. Must have been living with aunt murphy. Appreciate all your help even though it is a little puzzling that the James Brennan death you found would have been buried in a public grave when he had family still one never knows the circumstances of thos times. Rgds Frances
