Frances, I have found below on Find My Past 1939 registers. Unfortunately I don't know how to add an attachment to this message.

7 Southport Road Margaret Murphy date of birth given as 17 Feb 1894, states she is married, unpaid domestic duties.
There are then three banked out, may be here children born after 1915.
Mary B Brennan (with her future married name as Stanton) date of birth given, could be 27 or 29 January 1915, states she is single, her occupation is School Teacher.

Regards
JeanC

This address 7 Southport Road was not in the borough of Liverpool it was in the borough of West Lancashire in 1939. Looking at various maps it's between Maghull and Lydiate (now Sefton Borough Council). Modern searches for this address give it as being in Lydiate. House appearance is right for a house built late 1920s or 1930s so appears to be the one on the 1939 Register.

I have my doubts about the 1933 death with it matching a public burial rather than private and the death being so far away from Lydiate. It could be another James Brennan. Anyone else any thoughts?

Thank you Garstonite & Blue70 for your input. I think Margaret Murphy is buried at Yew Tree Cemetery - is this close to her place of residence @ Southport Road?

There's a probate record that could be a match:-

1940

BRENNAN James of the County Mental Hospital Lancaster died 4 March 1940 Administration Liverpool 18 May to Mary Brigid Brennan spinster. Effects £486 7s. 11d.

This corresponds with this burial:-

Yew Tree Cemetery, West Derby, Liverpool

8 March 1940, James Brennan, County Mental Hospital Lancaster, 63 years, Grave 3B 439

Before ordering the death certificate ask for help in determining names of others in this grave here:-

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=651292.405

Corresponding death index:-

Name: James Brennan
Birth Date: abt 1877
Date of Registration: Mar 1940
Age at Death: 63
Registration district: Lancaster
Volume: 8e
Page: 2225

Frances, Yewtree Cemetery Finch Lane West Derby Liverpool L14 4DG. The cemetery is quite away from the address of Southport Road. Do you have an idea of year that Margaret died?

The link I posted is to the RootsChat look-up offer by Ozranga (Marienne) to provide details of private graves at Ford Cemetery, Yew Tree etc if you ask Marienne to look up James Brennan, giving burial place, date and grave details as I provided she will be able to tell you who else was buried in the grave. The names and addresses should be useful in establishing whether or not this James Brennan is the right one or not.
