Abraham Hearn b1821 Combs, Suffolk and Eliza Thorp abt1821 Wattisham
« on: Monday 18 April 16 23:50 BST (UK) »
Hi, is there anyone with access to parish registers for the Suffolk Parishes please who might be able to help with the birth/baptisms of the above mentioned people, with information on who their parents might be.

From what I have researched already Abraham Hearn and Eliza Thorpe married on 25 February 1842, Suffolk County Bts, Suffolk.  It would be helpful to have a date of birth and parents names for Abraham Hearn and Eliza Thorpe.  The places I have put as their place of birth has come from their census information - Eliza is quite specific about Wattisham.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you check the 1841 census as Abraham appears to be with his mother and siblings?

Suffolk County BTs simply means that Familysearch originally extracted the marriage from the Bishops Transcripts of one of the Suffolk parishes.  You will probably have to obtain a copy of the marriage certificate to confirm which parish, unless you get lucky from a transcript.

The Stow RD covered Combs but not Wattisham - only Wattisfield

Not sure if I have done the above correctly, so apologise if it is a lot of nothing!  I have looked at that census - but due to following censuses discarded it - unfortunately there are 2 Abraham Hearn's born in Suffolk between 1820-1825 - one states Combs and I think the other one states Stow, so I investigated and looked at some places and came to a conclusion that Combs was closer to Battisford, and that Stow was closer to Stowmarket (or something like that!) to deduce which Abraham Hearn to follow in the censuses.  Perhaps, as also suggested,  I should purchase the marriage certificate for these 2 - seems to be the only way to go.  I must say though that at first it was this census that I was first drawn to - so maybe the gut instinct is correct here.

Thank you for your help.

Hi to those who responded.  Following the purchase of a marriage certificate I have been able to distinguish which Abraham Hearn to follow, with the help of a couple of witnesses and a few censuses that is!  Are the images viewable of the baptisms and marriages that are mentioned here, or is it a case of phoning the local archives and seeing what there is.  Thank you to everyone for your help.
