I have just received another email from FutureLearn:

Win a special framed design of your family tree

Of course, first you have to buy the Statement of Participation ::)

I think I'll pass ;D

LOL, - I don't need any more diplomas, etc... to hang in the downstairs loo!!

Romilly ;)

Sounds as if they are desperate to get people to buy the certificate doesn't it, never had any offers like that before?  As I said in a previous post, I wouldn't buy a certificate, as I don't think they prove anything at all. All you have to do is complete 50% of the course, and you could do that by just clicking completed after each section without even reading it. If there were tests (as on some courses) and you had to gain a certain mark, the certificates would be of more value, as it is they are just a piece of paper. I have said this when I was asked what might make me purchase one.

My thoughts exactly!  :)

I think the uptake on certificate purchases must be way below expectations. They were probably pleased at the huge numbers who signed up for this course - they'd have made a pretty penny if everyone had purchased a "certificate". I would love to know how many they sold.  ;)

I've done several FutureLearn courses before, but I've never done one with such a "hard sell" attitude concerning the Statement of Participation and now the family tree offer.

And the framed family tree offer is actually only a prize offered to one lucky person who enters the prize draw after buying their S. o. P.! :o

I've been sent this several times now...

I guess that it's in their interests to do the 'hard sell', - but it merely suceeds in putting me off!

Where's the "Like" button when you need one!

And the email starts along the lines of "we hope you enjoyed the course .... " so as they've obviously not read my comments I returned the favour and didn't read any more of their email.

Always looking for GOODWINS in Berkshire :)
