It wasn't the hum, Humming that irritated me..

It was the hum, what do they call it, the script over the video's that covered up parts of the screen, so you couldn't see what was being talked about...

I think the course is probably best suited to the very beginner or I might be interested in researching my family....  So you get a brief detail what is involved and help to avoid a lot of the pitfalls we found ourselves in, such as failing to note down where a particular document/information had come from ::)

That annoyed me until someone on here told me how to turn it off.  ;D ;D  You just click on the symbol on the right next to where it says HD, just above the "download video" and then turn off the subtitles. I can see why they were included as there may have been some people with hearing difficulties or whose first language wasn't English.

Now you tell me  :'(

I did wonder if you could turn them off, but for such a short course and a few video's I couldn't be asked to faff around to find out..

But if I ever do another futurelearn, then I will know

I've been very disenchanted with the course.  I'm shortly repeating my own course on family history, and if I used the FutureLearn course as an outline syllabus, I doubt I'd have any students left by the start of the second class.

I'm sure your course is a LOT more interesting and informative. :)

My comment to Mr Garrad:

If, as I suspect, about 1000 people complete that means an attrition rate of about 96% if the 26,000 was an accurate number of enrollments.  :o

Ahhh...it's not like on here where a thread/comment stays put. It's now at the link below...comment number looks to remain the same but the page numbers change! That is so unhelpful as you can't really direct anyone to a comment.

I think if you post about wanting course info a tutor appears  ;)
