Thanks Sinann, I think the probate must be for my GG grandfather James as he is not on the 1911 census but his wife Ann is on the 1911 census as 'widowed'. Not sure why the probate would be granted to 2 other people when his wife was still alive. Interesting!!!

It is only the Probate they did... doesn't mean they inherited.

I only see 2 James McGlinchey in the 1901, young James and his grandfather so this maybe of interest, a James McGlinchey died 12 Dec 1909 Farmer Ballybofey, probate was granted to James Quinn and Patrick Hannigan

Since the Will was probated in Londonderry then PRONI should have a copy of the Will and probably some of the paperwork to do with the estate (details and usefulness varies).

Michael is my GrandDad - they both married Boyle's from Rutland Island off the coast of Burtonport.
A third girl married a McGlinchey boy.

Most houses on Rutland are now owned by some class of Boyle, Hannigan or McGlinchey!

They are all holiday homes.

I am living in Cork with a family name - my eldest is Niall another Hannigan first name that goes back far in time - at least to the start of the 19th century.
