The infirmary would have been part of St Olave's Workhouse.

Records are kept at London Metropolitan Archives.
And Ancestry has London Workhouse Admission and Discharge Records (1738-1930) searchable by name.

See: http://www.workhouses.org.uk/StOlave/

Greetings, cousin!

I have several documents which I have not yet scanned onto disk and I am fairly sure I have the death certificate for William MONKS.  It will take me a few days to find it!  From memory I think he had a lung ailment.

William was my great-great-grandfather.

William MONKS (c1842 - 1899) m Rosina LYON (1842-1924)
Children were: William (c1864), Thomas (c1866), Rosina (c1867), Elizabeth (c1870), Annie (1873), Albert (1875), John (1880), Charlotte (1880) and Louisa (?1887)
Annie MONKS (1873-1962) m Harry MOUNT (c1873-1917)
children included Harry W MOUNT (1908-1993) m Eleanor WILLIAMSON (1899-1996)
one living daughter m Jeremy RICHARDSON (1929-1971)
one living daughter, one son (me!) Philip RICHARDSON

The photo below is believed to be William MONKS (c1842-1899).

All the best
Philip
