Glentworth baptism- GOODHAND mid 18th century
« on: Tuesday 19 July 05 19:40 BST (UK) »
Hi there

Trying to find the baptism of Francis GOODHAND who married Jayne HARRISON in Glentworth in 1789.

I did find a Francis GOODHAND on the LDS site, born in 1763, but this was in Glentham. I don't know if this was an error, and it was a submitted listing, with no info.

If anyone could help, I'd b most grateful

Thanks

The two villages are only 3-4 miles apart.

This may help- some fact ,some speculation:

Both Francis and Jayne were buried in Glentworth- Francis, 19 june 1836, age 82, and Jane 3 oct 1845 age 81.

If you believe the ages ,that could put Francis' birth earlier than thought - 1754.

Jane was in Glentworth in 1841, pauper, age 75, living with an Elizabeth (maybe Bell..florid handwriting) age 50, which might be the daughter?

There are no other Goodhand marriages in Corringham deanery, other than F and J.

Closest Goodhand cluster seems to be Binbrook, 10 miles east and LDS has the records for both churches there.

Hi John,

Many thanks for this. I have recently received a tree drawn up by a distant relative, which claims Francis was in fact baptised in Binbrook.

I have traced many of his siblings via LDS, but alas, as is so often the case, he is missing !

Ah well, what is genealogy but one big puzzle- often with missing pieces ?? :)

Thanks for the other info you have provided though. I believe Elizabeth was a daughter.

Cheers, there may be more soon !
