Sorry it was 1820 he was born. His birth cert was just a line in a register with his name and his fathers name.

Birth registration in Ireland started in 1864 so it's not a birth certificate. What you describe sounds like a church register recording a baptism. Is the mother's name or a townland not mentioned? location?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
