I have a Jewish great grandfather too .
Which country did your ancestors come from
.
If their families immigrated to UK or USA you might find photos on alien registration documents. Passport applications  or naturalization letters

My mother obtained a photo of her grandfather from a 1920 hospital record .

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. They were Polish but my great grandfather came to the UK as a small boy. I have seen his family's naturalisation papers from the 1880s, no photos sadly. I will keep looking. None of his surviving family - the children of his nieces and nephews - have anything.
