« on: Wednesday 23 March 16 22:41 GMT (UK) »
i have a question Hugh patrick doran born lurgan armagh ireland 1895 served in the royal irish fusiliers army number11507 i have seen a medal card for him but what i can't find anything about is  we have been told that he served with the British army in India and his wife was out there with him ? this has to be before 1921 as her son patrick was born armagh 1921 then  2 more afterwards  in armagh we were also told she had lost more than 1 child while in india so  had to have been there a while but it's a mystery is there  a way to find out  if they were in india?

He was in the 2nd. Batt. who were in India pre war but were sent to France Nov. 1914 where he earned his 14 Star.
1915 they were in Salonika then Egypt & Palestine until the end of the War.
So he must have been a career soldier or re-enlisted after the war & sent to India.
His records will be with the MOD & you'll have to apply to them for a copy.

Hi,

that RIF number is consistent with enlistment around March 1914.

Hope this helps,

regards,

David

Is your Hugh Patrick the one who married in Ireland in the first quarter of 1920 and son Patrick was born in Ireland in March 1921?  Doesn't give much time for having babies in India.

Debra  :)

Could he have been in India after the births of the 2 children?
