Hi,

In case you don't have a date of death for your William John Carson... obit is in the Globe and Mail on 22 Sept 1966, page 43.

William John Carson, husband of Helen Johnston, died at Northwestern General Hospital on Sept 20 1966.  Address had been 4 Flemington Park, Toronto.  Father of Graham of Richmond Hill.   Interment Glendale Memorial Gardens.

Obit says "Flemington Park", but I am quite sure it should say "Flemingdon Park".

Also in case you don't already have this.. looks like Graham died in 1994.  Had worked at CIBC for over 40 years, and was retired.  Died at York Central hospital on Aug 24 1994.  Husband of the late Betty.  Father of B* and her husband B* French.  Granddaughters J* and C*.   Interment St John's Anglican Cemetery, Richmond Hill.

Globe and Mail 26 Aug 1994, page A12.

* I didn't write the full names of the daughter, son in law and granddaughters... because they are likely still living.

Thanks so much for this.

I did not have this information for William John & Helen.      I did have the obit for Graham Carson but only because I was there.  The B. French is my son and the others my grandchildren.  My son is in Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie and will be there for the foreseeable future then at least one year re-hab.     During numerous moves the personal documents have been lost and the family has unofficially appointed me as family historian.

As an 82 year old shut in I do have time on my hands but have little knowledge about computers and genealogy.  But I am learning and it has been wonderful that so many people have stepped in to help me.  Budgetary constraints do not allow me to join sources such as Ancestry.

If it is not too much of an imposition, would there be an obit for Graham Carson's wife.  Her maiden name was Frances Elizabeth Barnard and that is the extent of my information about her. I do not know her parents or when or where she was born.

My son tells me Graham was with the Army Signal Corp in WW11 but I could not find any record in the Canada Archives.

Again, thanks so much for your kind response.

Happy to help... :) :)

Frances Elizabeth (Betty) Carson died at her home on July 22 1990.  Wife of Graham.  Mother of B* of Richmond Hill and M*.  Interment St John's Anglican Cemetery, Richmond Hill.

No mention of her parents, or any siblings... will check for a marriage notice.

I didn't find a marriage notice, but I did find an obituary for Frances Elizabeth Barnard's mother.  Her name was Elizabeth S Barnard, nee Bain.  Wife of the late Frank R Barnard of Aurora.  She died at the home of her daughter on Dec 24 1974.  Mother of Betty (Mrs Graham Carson) of Richmond Hill and Howard of Elliott Lake.  Granddaughter of M*, B* (These must be the Carsons) and G* and L* (likely Howard's children, so would be Barnards).  Funeral at St. John's Anglican church.  Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Globe and Mail, Dec 27, 1974, page 25.

Familysearch has a marriage for a Frank Richard Barnard (b 1889in England, parents Harry Barnard and Annie Gregory) to Elizabeth Soutter Bain (b 1888 in Scotland, parents David Bain and Mary Ann Soutter).  Date of marriage 7 Oct 1916 in Toronto.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2786-RSB

So, their daughter Frances Elizabeth Barnard was most likely born after 1916 and in the Toronto area.

Thank you for this information.    It seems that this is indeed the correct family.   I will enter to my Family Tree Maker and I'm sure the pieces will fit.

Glad to hear it :) :)

I found the obit for Frank R Barnard too.  It gives his birthdate as March 17 1889 in Basingstoke, England.  He died March 19 1974.  Husband of Elizabeth Bain of Aurora.  Children and Grandchildren are as given in Elizabeth's obituary.  Funeral service at St. John's Anglican Church.  Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Toronto Star, March 21, 1974, page B6

Free BMD has a birth registration for Frank Richard Barnard in Basingstoke in the JuneQ of 1889.

PS I hope your son is feeling better.   :)
