A bit of colour and help identifying the occasion would be great

hi all

this is a picture of my grandparents (middle Couple, nana to the right) all people in the pic are dec'd by now - this must be a wedding perhaps  as the men are wearing button flowers , but whose wedding ? not theirs as nana isnt wearing a wedding dress , or maybe it is their wedding and thats how they dressed . Its just after WW1 as a rough estimate  and perhaps these are bridesmaides but why the ladies are wearing suits, maybe this was the fashion. What is grandad wearing across his left shoulder?
the man to the left is wearing a wedding ring - and the two men to the left and right have carnations but not my grandfather. incredibly i still have grandads silver pocket watch in my glass display cabinet that he wears here.
I would also love to have some colour to the pic if this is at all possible .

A clean up to start you off...maybe your granddad just lost the head off his carnation and what you see is left is the greenery....many people got married in costumes similar to this during this period as there was a shortage of materials just after the war... white wedding dresses didn't became widely worn until the 1920s or even later. I think it is likely that it could be a double wedding and the extra man is the Best Man....Two men with a bow tie and one with an ordinary tie could be the best man.

yes I mean our left (their right ) i get mixed up between left and rights esp as the kids were talking to me same time

Thought the man on the right (with the tie) and the woman seated beside him look alike - wondered if they could be related. Perhaps its just because their expressions seem so similar.
