Thanks Rosie. I'm sure it's what suits you best but I bet Tahitia would say there is a proper way to do it!

Sorry my broadband connection is pathetic at the moment. Have tried several times to send this  :-[

So far, I've only done the first half of week 1 as I've been spending time (having fun :) ) using a trial version of Family Historian 6. I'm afraid that i won't be reading the huge amount of comments (only from those I'm following), but hope to get more into the course as it goes along.

That must be a challenge if Version 4 is anything to go by.  ;D

I think you could easily complete Week 1 of the course in a very short time. There are only about three new terms I need to remember a-n-d .... I've forgotten them already.  ;D

Rosie - I just write down the site I got them from - Anc*y or FindMyPast or FreeR. It's then just a question of typing names into a box and hey presto there they are! I think proper genealogists would frown on that though. Should I be more professional?

I write down references - just so that I can find them on any website in the future!

With census records, that's Class, Piece No., Folio, (Book if it's the 1841 census), and Page no.

Well my ancestry tree (5000+ people) transferred happily and i've been trying out the reports and books, and tree design. Have looked through a lot of the tutorials and videos and like the way Ancestral Sources works so have decided to go with it  ;D

Currently tempted to start again, tidy up as i go and add all the certs and census records.
