Deaths as sea
« on: Sunday 13 March 16 06:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi there
I have Thomas Coverdale a married mariner in 1851 census, child born 1854. Thomas not in 1861 census, wife (Esther) a widow back living with her mother.  Best place to see if I can find a death possibly at sea??? They were in Whitby 1851 census.  Help would be great.  Cheers

Have you looked at deaths registered in Whitby?

There are two Thomas Coverdale deaths registered in Whitby in the 1851-1861 period: one in 1857 and the other in 1860. The 1857 death was a young child (aged 1) per burial records. Which leaves the 1860 death - have you considered that one?
