Birthday certificates
« on: Wednesday 09 March 16 07:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to find birth certificates for my mother, grandmother great aunt

My mother was born in Halle auf Saale but I cannot find any help from the Stadt to help find a certificate.
My grandmother and great aunt were both born in Bedzin Poland in the early 1900s. There too I've had no success.
Could anyone please help me trace birth certificates

Kind regards
Warman, Godderidge, Avemarg, Hollander, Feldman

Be very careful not to post any names or details of any person who may be alive - this is against rootschat policy.

Hi Kimmie and Josey

Unfortunately they have all died
My mother Ellinor Avemarg (when she was born on 17.2.2928, my grandmother was not married and so my mother's birth may have been registered under her mother's name which is Warmann.
My grandmother Frieda Warmann born on 5.4.1912 in Bedzin Poland.
My great aunt Gertrude Warmann born on 5.7.1907 in Bedzin Poland.
I have tried really hard to find s birth certificate for all three. Without success.
Frieda Warmann married Onto Adolf Avemarg (born 22.8.1899)
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to supply.

What additional information are you trying to find, as you know dates of birth? What religion were the family? There may be baptisms in church records which may give parents for your grandmother & great aunt.

Tell us what resources you have tried - you say you have had no success with The Stadt. Is that where Polish events were registered & certificates issued? I cannot find them on familysearch.org.

You may have more success on the 'Europe' board on rootschat where a Polish expert may read your post [your post title does not specify where so you could change that as well using the 'Modify' button at the top right of your first post; a moderator can move your post to a more appropriate board - click on the 'Report to moderator' button at bottom right of your post and request it is moved.

Hi Marian,   When bringing up a subject in Rootschat for the second time it is good to at least give the address of the last discussion which in your case gives much more information.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=640581.18

The Jewish connection will be the reason why the documents are missing.    My wife was evacuated to her grandmother's home in Striegau now Strzgom in Schlesien - Silesia and everyone had to find certificates for grandparents etc to prove that they had no Jewish ancestry.   I think they conveniently put the search to one side when they suspected that a great grandparent may have been Jewish and pretended they could go no further.   Anyway it is a good idea to learn as much as you can about what happened in Bendsburg, for example this page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C4%99dzin_Ghetto .     Have you tried Jewish sources yet?   They may be able to help you.    Good Luck,   Malcolm

Thank you all for your replies.   My mother, grandmother and great aunt were indeed Jewish.
I'm building a family tree and therefore very keen to find all relevant details.  I have tried to find this information before and have written to Germany and Poland without success.  I believe they may have left Poland when my grandmother and great aunt were young. Their father Szymon Warmann did not return from the front.  They moved to Dusseldorf and Dortmund but moved to Brussels in 1939, to escape the nazis. I can't even fins a birth certificate for my mother either.  Thank you again. I think I'll have to file the paperwork in s drawer as I will never find the information.
Kind regards
