Thank you Jacquie......but I do have the Marriage Cert for Margaret McDonald & James Smith, (Thomas Rae's mothers 2nd Marriage).

I appreciate all the help you have given me.....its been fantastic!!

Only thing left for me to find out, is where/when Thomas Rae died & what family of his is out there.

I'm glad I could help.

Thomas and his wife had no children listed with them on the 1940 census. Since they married in 1936 and Catherine was listed as being 41 on the 1940 census it seems really doubtful they would have had any children born after 1940.

There's an entry on this death index for a Thomas Rae who died in Wayne Co. in 1960 - https://macombvitals.macombcountymi.gov/death.php  There's no further detail, so it's unclear if it's him.

You could try contacting the cemetery where his wife was buried to see if he is also there.  http://forestlawndetroit.com/

Thomas Rae was born on 18 Nov 1898 in Carluke, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

He lived in Detroit.

His wife's name was Catherine Bell Rae (nee Rankine). She died on 27 May 1969 & is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Detroit.

Recent info......death possibly on 12 Feb 1960 in Wayne County.

Has anyone more concrete evidence?

His wife's name was Catherine Bell Rae (nee Rankine).

Note: A quick search at SP and Ancestry shows some documents have her maiden surname as Rankin.

The USA does not have a BMD Index as does the UK - so there are no records available online for the time frame you are searching.  As Shelly suggested, it may be worthwhile contacting the cemetery to see if Thomas is buried with Catherine.
