Hi JohnJ, thanks for replying, my Grandmother was Joseph's daughter Elizabeth Jane born 1878, you say Joseph born 1842 had a brother named John, I didn't know that, although a John Jeffers is mentioned in a book about Liverpool during the 1880's or 1890's, There is also a Samuel Jeffers born about 1836 at Forkhill, Armagh. Word handed down through my family say Joseph and family were from Armagh, although Joseph never stated where he was born, Samuel, who's Father was also named Matthew (Coincidence ?) states he was born at Forkhill. A further interesting point you made was that your Grandfather's Brother Joseph enlisted in the South Lancs Regiment during WWI So Did Samuel and my Grandad George, who was killed in October 1916, Samuel was severely wounded, shipped to hospital in England, but died in 1917, he too is buried in Anfield cemetery, Liverpool, perhaps Joseph and Samuel were in the same company, very interesting.
