Hi again

Here is Elizabeth in the 1841 for Chailey

HO107/ 1110/  2 - Hill Resting Oak, Chailey

CHATFIELD Thomas, 35 - Ag Lab
.................  Jane, 20
.................  William, 3
.................  William, 30 - Ag Lab
.................  Susan, 20
.................  Elizabeth, 4
.................  William, 2

all born in county of Sussex

Looks as though there are two families, probably Thomas and William are brothers?

Thank you so much, Chris and Phil.  This is really fascinating.  It appears that Elizabeth is the daughter of William who must have shared a home with his brother Thomas but I wonder where Elizabeth was in 1851 when she would have been only about 13 or 14.  'Tis a puzzlement!  My kind regards to you both.

Hello Jeune,

The answer to your question is buried about three-quarters of the way down in my first post.
That will teach me to break them down, instead of getting carried away.

Thank you Phil, on re-reading your post, I see that Elizabeth aged 14 was a servant and therefore counted in the Cornwell household.  Cheers, Jeune
