Hi Catherine

The CHurch of the Latter Day Saints indexed the births marriages and deaths registered from 1864 to 1867 so this birth should be in the IGI.
However there was a substantial level of non compliance in registering in the early years, estimated around 20% so don't count your chickens.

More Irish info on my website.

My great grandfather had a half-brother called Thomas Abraham Marten.  Based on census information in Liverpool (where he grew up) it would appear that Thomas was born in Dublin about 1866.  Thomas's birth may be registered in either the name Rowley or Marten,

Hi Catherine,

thanks for the offer to look Dublin related things up. I wonder whether there is anything that you can do with this?

There is not a lot to go on, but this is what I have:

George KANE, who appears to have been born in Dublin in about 1846, was my gg grandfather. He was married in Liverpool in 1867, so was certainly living over here by that time.

His father was called Cornelius KANE and was a whipmaker. I'm afraid I don't have any more information than that, but I wonder whether you wouldn't mind checking what you have to see whether anything pops up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Andy

Hello Catherine,

I wonder if you could help me?

My great grandmother, Teresa Carroll, was born in Kingstown, Dublin, 7th March 1879. From the LDS site, I have just found out that she had at least two brothers, born 1877 and 1880, both Dublin.

I have her birth certificate, marriage and death (she came over to the UK and is on the 1901 census, she married and died over here too).

What I am trying to find out is more about her parents, Martin Carroll and Mary White. I am presuming they married in Dublin but I really don't know where to start?

I cannot find either of them on any censuses (I know the Irish earlier ones were destroyed).

Hoping you can help me,

With very best wishes,

Julie in Portsmouth.

Hi Julie,

If you can get to an LDS family history centre, they should have the marriage index on microfiche where you can look for Martin CARROLL and Mary WHITE being married in Dublin in the same quarter and the same index reference.

has more explanation

Hi Kate

I wondered if you could help me find more information about a family member, Samuel SANDERS, who was stationed in Ireland in 1911 to 1914. He was then sent to France and subsequently discharged into the reserves. He was recalled in approx 1920 and was again in Ireland, this time in Dublin.
After his discharge in approx 1923 he stayed in Ireland in the Dublin area. At one time he was a steward of "The New Era Club", I think it was in Eldon Street, Dublin.  In the late 1920s, early 1930s he owned "Bolton Cycle and Radio Stores" at 35 Bolton Street, Dublin.
Could you advise me how to find his family?

Catherine

I was very interested to read the HOWARD information posted by you - many thanks.

I am new to Rootschat and am having difficulty finding my way around.  I would like to know if someone requested HOWARD info - can't find any such message.  I would very much like to contact anyone interested in the family of Francis J HOWARD.

Hello Katebray,  Thanks for the offer ;D
Here's what I have so far-
Patrick and Mary Tyrrell, my GGGparents lived at 58 Leighlin Rd, Crumlin for a long time, both are believed to be buried at Deans Grange, Blackrock.  Birthdates for both are unknown but estimated to be between 1880 - 1895.  Mary died May 8 1949. They had 5 chn Lily (Elizabeth), Molly (Mary Ellen 1917-1992), Patrick, Jack and Lena (d. 1950).

Also Peter and Maryanne Byrne,GGGparents, lived in Malpas St, Dublin.  Peter d. 1936 and Maryanne d. 7/11/1957. I know they had 3 chn Jean, Peter (b 16 Dec 1915 d. 17 Aug 1971) and Patrick (b. about 1923 d. 2003)

Any information greatfully received,
